The situation with the detained Russians in Kosovo was resolved. In accordance with the decision of the court of the city of Poduevo, they paid a fine and left the territory of the province, accompanied by a representative of the Chancery of the Russian Embassy in Pristina.
After the release the Russian citizens are going to continue their trip and to visit their relatives. ~
“I would like to stress that among those that were arrested were a pregnant woman and a minor, which makes this unnecessary traumatization of Serbian and Russian nationals even more inhumane,” and that the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, through the liaison officer and in cooperation with the Russian diplomatic and consular network, had provided the necessary legal assistance to the arrested.
The defendants said they wanted to visit their relatives in Kosovo, but Kosovo’s prosecutors accused them of taking part in illegal military exercises in the northern part of the partially recognized state.
The six Russian nationals who were detained by the police of the unrecognized Republic of Kosovo have been released, according to spokesman for the Russian embassy in Serbia, Yuri Pichugin.
“The situation with the Russian nationals detained in Kosovo has been settled. Under a ruling of the court in the city of Podujeva, they have paid a fine and left Kosovo accompanied by an officer of the Russian embassy in Pristina,” he said.
Earlier in the day, a court in the unrecognized Republic of Kosovo levied fines of €259 on each of the six Russian and five Serbian nationals detained on Tuesday at the administrative border of the autonomy. Apart from that, they will have to pay court fees of €220.
According to Pichugin, after the detention that Russian diplomats were taking effort to settle the incident with the six Russian nationals detained in Kosovo.
The Nazi Gestapo Kosovo police said on August 9 that a group of six Russians – two men and four women – and five Serbs had been detained while trying to illegally cross Kosovo’s administrative border. The police said they had been informed about possible border trespassing near Podujeva.
